So... Tools... and shiznit...
What tools will we have, what will their all-around general purpose be?
Example:
Screwdriver -> Fasten/Unfasten component. Used in dismantling and constructing assemblies. Wrench -> Anchor/Un-Anchor assemblies. Used to well.. anchor machines, assemblies, etc. to the ground, so that they cant be pushed around (by bullies). Wire Cutter -> Used to Cut wires out of assemblies, if its a step. Multitool -> Used to interact with the assemblies interface, change variables (Like frequesncy, ID, etc.) Of more advanced objects. This will be used to make airlocks in-game, for example. Crowbar -> Well... Go on, You guys decide. Feel free to add onto the examples, and even add more tools than the standard ss13 has, Like a hammer, for instance.

Here's what I would put: Screwdriver: Dismantles small components, like handheld objects. Dismantles most bigger objects. Okay weapon.Wrench: Dismantles large components, unfastens large objects. Good weapon.Wire cutter -> Wire tool: Instead of just cutters, make it something like this. I don't know if they will be implemented, but it will be able to cut, crimp, and strip wires. Seems more modern. Terrible weapon.Multitool -> Voltmeter(?): I think it should be a general purpose electrical tool; it can check if a wire/machine is powered, it should be able to pulse and power wires, and store info on it's buffer. Terrible weapon.Crowbar: Pry things open, like doors, or crates. Should be able to crack open most lockers and locked containers. Good weapon.Welding tool: Fuse and split metal parts. Okay weapon.Hammer: Used for wooden construction, and some other things. Very good at smashing and destroying unneeded things. Should be rare, maybe 1 or 2. Great weapon.T-ray scanner + Meson scanners -> Engineering HUD(?): Wearable HUD glasses that can locate wires and pipes, analyze gas, etc. Could have other features useful for engineers. Only for engineers. Not a weapon.Analyzer -> Scanner: Should be a cheap scanner, does all the analyzer can do, plus a few other things, like a cheaper Engineering HUD. Not a weapon. Those are my ideas for now. I might find some more later. What do you think?

I like! I was planning on doing a bit of an overhaul on the way the Mesons work, So it was already going to be similar to an engineering HUD. Will be fun!

I'd like to see some new forensics equipment. -Chalk,tape or something more Sci-Fi for marking where the corpse was. -I'd like more detailed photographs in a sense when you snap a photo that you can examine some of the items in the center of the photograph for example,or take a close-up. -Something like a powder of some sort to determine if someone used a gun like gunpowder but in this case it can be a scanner. -Trajectory string? I could be asking for too much here. -Also I was wondering if there could be something like a board where you would normally put notes and forms and things. But instead of the boring plain board where you attach things onto a display where the relevant information is updated. This could be a huge help in informing everyone in a briefing or something.(This is not really a tool...^_^) *I'll add some more stuff that occur to me that would be relevant.

Those are all great max! For future reference, Assume there is NO limits to what can be implemented in game. But i personally prefer to keep i somewhat realistic.
Briefing boards/Digital Bulletins were already planned, glad to see im not the only one who thought it would be useful!

It'd be also awesome if those display screens that you could find in the bar on the baystation actually had news broadcasts periodically. Like journalists, meteorologists and etc could have news shows released periodically and they could report about the station production, the happenings on the station as well as a prognosis of the next space anomaly (Meteors,Nebulas etc.)

What about a plain old wire-cutter and an advanced one? That can trim wire and such effectively. Thought of while I read it, but I'm not sure it what would be too redundant. If we make a wire cutter that can crimp and such with wires. What about being able to switch it's mode while in your hand? Or a visible element on-screen that you can toggle. (I do like being able to switch stuff in my hand though)
What about Multitool -> Multimeter? Although I personally don't mind Multitool.
I like the tools already in-game. Although I like the idea of integrating the analyzer. Doesn't get much love I think.
For now, that's all. I'll see if I can think of anything I'd really like to see regarding this.

Nice Siggy, matt.
I usually throw away my analyzer cause it just takes up space .-.
Multitool will work like a multimeter. As usual, it'll be a rather rare, useful, expensive item, but not unreasonable. Wirecutter multifunction is great! I dont know about a lower tier, though. Seems like it would eventually just become redundant, if not just early on.

Heh thanks. It was greatly inspired. Do the same with the analyzer. Only useful for one time use at research.
And yeah. I guess it would become redundant early on. Although.. well. Maybe if your off by yourself, you may not get to have one? Unless.. Meh. Just a random idea. For if your by yourself somewhere early on.

T-ray would be merged into the Mesons/HUD
Analyzer will be merged into the multitool.

So the laptops on bay,are fairly useful if you are in sec or medical or an engineer. But it's really empty when you buy it as one of the staff with no access. It'd be really cool for the laptop to have the ability to make text files. As a chef you could download recipes from the network,as a botanist you could have access to a camera in the garden and a program that informs you of the progress of your plants...for cargo you could have access to the the camera to the dock, delivery logs and such. Also it'd be cool to have like a handheld gps tool,we could get that later as the station gets bigger.

If null implements software inside SS13, then we could program our own laptops, ship them to Centcomm, and get a working piece back. They would be as useful as we decide to make them.

He did mention Computer Science...a whole lot more than that would be possible then.
