So, as you might have noticed, Classic SS13 is chock-full of references. There are a lot. Here are some examples:
The AI is modeled after Shodan from System Shock. The ambient noises heard in the AI core are snippets from the Space Jam theme song. Candy corn can be stored in detective's hat. This is a reference to Problem Sleuth. The D8 found in the library is modeled after the Fluorite Octet from Homestuck. The event when an Immovable Rod will fly through the station is a reference from 4Chan's /tg/ board. The Plasma Cutter is taken directly from Dead Space. Hardsuits are modeled after RIG suits from Dead Space. Xenomorphs are taken directly from Alien. There are various references to Dwarf Fortress, especially in item descriptions. The retro laser on the White Ship is a phaser from Star Trek.
I won't mention mention them all, but that gives you an idea. Now, my question: Does Buildstation plan to have references like this? If so, should we recognize chances to add references to our sprites?

Yes! Most certainly! I don't wan't to remove that from ss13. So long as it doesn't detract from the gameplay, or the roleplay, go right ahead! (Something that many would argue detracts from both gameplay and roleplay: "The clown role." lol.)

Oh man, being on a station with a clown for a week will drive anyone insane. I am strongly against it.

We'll probably have an entertainer role or two, for sure. But it wont be a fucking clown. God no. Haha, I think clowns are a core part of Classic SS13 gameplay. They really add to the "doom" feeling. Whenever SS13 is mentioned, people talk about the different jobs; janitor, clown, and captain are usually always mentioned. While we may get rid of the clown, we need to find an iconic job. Just like "HONK" reminds people of SS13, something should remind them of Buildstation.

Absolutely! And I may include clowns in buildstation, They just wont be a super-legitemicised role. You wont have someone hired as a clown for the station. You'll have a clown, on the station. With no affiliation.
What should that job be? I've always pictured it as the engineer, Because... yeh.

We need to find a gimmick job. Something relatively common on Earth, but something you would not expect at all from a space station. I'll try to find ideas.
