Random fluff related to food/chems, since thats what im working on right now.
5-10 different "Taste" flavours that you get when you ingest certain chemicals. Tasting something in your mouth could also be a SYMPTOM of certain chemicals being in your system, a disease or virus, or even gasses in the air.
The basic being: "Sour, Bitter, Salty, Sweet, Savoury"
others possibly being: "Shit/Fecal, Rotting, Ash/Burnt, Bland, Godlike/Amazing"
For the most part, its just fluff, but it could make for another RP reason to either avoid consuming certain pills or drinks, or boycott the chef's cooking altogether. In case someone slips something into your drink, it could be helpful (although too late) as well.
Second thing, is Ignition! So currently things are ignited by flames from welding tools, cigarettes, sparks, lighters, igniters, matches, etc. And there are only two possible states. I'm planning on adding a little bit more complexity to it by giving different ignition sources higher/lower "Ignition" values. A welder being higher than a cheap lighter, for example.
The way this would be used, Is to have safer/more stable "High explosives" That require a primer to actually detonate. Or to make a steady burn mix that burns slowly. Some chemicals when on fire, will RAISE the ignition value by a little bit depending on how many units have been burned, causing fires to grow. The higher the ignition value, the faster the fire will grow. The lower, the less it will grow, until eventually it burns at a stable rate (burn rate equal to ignition value) or puts itself out (burn rate lower than ignition value) Or is put out, with something like water or a fire extinguisher (lowers ignition value of an object/fire.)
This makes controlling fires easier to understand, and determine how long it will take to put out, etc. It also makes fire and explosions a more useful weapon. Oh, and it leaves another tool to play with for chemists and atmostechs.
