plans to use 48x48 as opposed to 32x32 for more details, etc. We're going for orthographic, 60 degree angle. Pallet can be mucked with later. Just looking for several different roughs in different styles. Oh and if you think you can come up with a nice looking 32x32, go for it.I'm not gonna include my first version here because of reasons. This is how far I am now, I quickly threw this together before school so there's several things I don't like about it What I don't like about it: Looks way too muscular in the arms and torso, legs look a bit weird and the face needs more detail and better eye/lip placement. Maybe the head is too long, haven't tried out any form of hair yet. Shading needs more work too. Now, if you tell me you hate it I'll start over. I'm still experimenting here.

Move the crotch up heigher and the arms down a bit lower i think. The shoulders are about 4 pixels too broad as well.

Yeah I'm gonna try to form the hands and feet a bit better too. And just for the lulz this is what he used to look like He looked like a friggin inflatable sexdoll

Okay so there's still some details about this that I don't like but I'd like an opinion before I continue For one, the hips look weird. The hands and feet need some editing and I'm still not sure if the head is too big. Might wanna lower the eyes and mouth too to make the angle better.

Belly ought to be a little narrower, and the legs look a tiny bit too skinny, but its definately getting close to there. I think it'll be just about done, soon.

Okay so I have a dilemma Either go with the legs more spread apart, or more together. Imo the legs a bit further apart look less weird

Nexxt: I think the chest detailing needs to be a bit higher, The nips could stay where they are though. Lastly before the head, the arms seem a bit floppy.

try with less spread out legs, see if having them aligned with body line works. look at the ss13 sprite for reference since it works. and head may be too big

I'm aware of the head, haven't gotten to tweaking it yet. I have a version with aligned legs too, I just thought the hip area looked weird

If you do the straight legs, just adding 3-4 pixels to pixels to the side would probably be enough to make the hips look better. Youve made a lot of progress on this. Good work!

Sphere. Your uniform is fine, its very in-style with the current ss13 sprites. However, one of the key things i asked hydre to do was to avoid pulling inspiration from the current ss13 sprites. I probably should have mentioned this in the artstyle thread.

Honestly? Too skinny, too fat, too broad, too narrow. The hands are wrong, or are they?
Its not perfect. Neither are. But it should be, considering it'll be what's sitting in the middle of peoples screens, on of the major points of focus, for hours at a time. For objects that arent seen as often, it'll be less of an issue.
It will be one of the first things people criticize about the codebase, so i'd like to make sure its a good first impression. Ss13 humans are "ok". When they come by, i want them to immediately think its "better."

Yep. I dont expect it to be perfect, just as perfect as we can pull off. This thread is for coming up with different looks for humans, not just for the final product. If you knwo what the sprite needs to be able to illustrate, then feel free to sprite some, either in collaboration or on your own. When i get the chance ill probably post what i can, too.
Keep in mind, there may be animations added in the future.
